The Wedding: Beauty and Fashion

As I explained in this earlier post, the day of our wedding was a little bit different than usual.

When it came down to fashion on the day of our wedding, mine was pretty simple. I bought my dress and cathedral length veil on super sale at Alfred Angelo. I wore super cute, gold peep toe pumps that you can see in my blog header! My pearl necklace was borrowed from my Aunt Brandi and my white gold earrings were a gift from my mom a few days before the wedding. That took care of my something new and something borrowed.

For my hair, I decided to keep it simple and just go straight and "half-up/half-down". After the ceremony, it got so hot outside that my MOH (who was amazing) fixed my hair into a cute low bun with two flower pins.

But what I was really proud of was my make-up. I have super oily skin, so I really needed make-up options that were long lasting. Last year I found the Bare Minerals Matte foundation and absolutely fell in love. It goes on smooth and provides great coverage, but doesn't look cakey. To keep my pretty pink eye shadow going strong, I primed my eye lids with the Urban Decay Primer Potion. Top it off with the Clinique Black Honey Almost Lipstick for some subtle color and I was good to go. I'm usually one of the people that requires 50+ photos before there is one I actually approve for public viewing, but when I opened up our wedding photos I was really happy with the way I looked. Doing my own make-up let me be in control. I didn't have to worry about an over-zealous make up artist coloring my face. Don't get me wrong, a great make up artist is worth their weight in gold, but not only was this out of my budget but doing my own just made me more comfortable.

What are you doing for your wedding? Hiring someone or going it on your own? Any products that you just have to share? I'd love to know!

Carry On

I've found the thing I've been hunting for for months. Target, Old Navy, and Wal-Mart had all failed me. But then there it was. At Wal-Mart a couple of days ago.

The perfect summer-time floppy hat. I was prepared to call off the whole honeymoon, should I not have found it!

No worries now! Carry On.

Check: THE DRESS!!!!

**Sorry I didn't post about this earlier!**

I have a dress! I seriously bought it on a whim a couple of weeks ago after I got this email:When I started looking for wedding gowns online I decided to sign up for each sites' email notifications. Usually I don't do that because I don't want a bunch of spam in my inbox, but I said "Why the heck not?" Then I got a message from Alfred Angelo saying that two locations near my were moving to a new location and selling their sample dresses for 50% off!!!! It was definitely a gamble going, as they didn't have too much left but I ended up finding the one.

The original price tag was $799.00. How much did I pay for it? $374.50! I saved $424.50 and the dress is in great condition. I also ended up buying a cathedral length veil for $59.50 as well (because they too were 50% off). All in all, I spent $469.81 (including tax) for my gorgeous dress and veil.

Shoes, Shoes, Shoes

I found my wedding shoes sometime before Christmas but I just haven't posted about them yet. They could, quite possibly, be the most perfect shoes ever! They are even in my colors. The bestest best part about these shoes? The PRICE!!!!

Before I divulge that, I'll share some pictures. Aren't they cute??

Now, just so you know, wearing shoes like these (even for a short ceremony) ain't gonna be easy, honey. I almost never wear heels, and if I do they are never this high. So what am I wearing right now as I sit at my desk? These shoes. My fiance is in the tub and, every night, I take that time to break in and practice walking around in these babies.

Okay, so how much did the perfect pair of shoes set me back??? Drum roll, please.

$2.98

Oh, don't worry I didn't leave out any numbers! Two dollars and ninety eight cents. (!!!!!)They were on clearance and Charlotte Russe (an adorable store BTW). I even told the sales lady that I loved her. Don't they just make you smile? Ahhh... :D
