Product Review: Burt's Bees Lip Shimmer

*Disclaimer. I am not a beautician, I bought all of these products myself, and I am not being paid by any company to do this. This review is my honest opinion of this product.

I am not, nor have I ever been a lipstick person. It just always seemed like I could never find the right shade and if I did wear lipstick it ended up on everything!!! As soon as I started planning my wedding, I knew that I would not being wearing lipstick. Can you just imagine my brand new husband walking back down the aisle after our first kiss as man and wife with lipstick all over his smile??? Um, I'm gonna go ahead and answer no. I don't have anything against lipstick, but it's just not for me. I don't want to offend anyone with this post. I'm just trying to provide an another option.

I actually got a couple of the Burt's Bees Lip Shimmers for Christmas, Caramel and Fig. I was a little wary at first because the colors look intense in the tube, but after trying them out I grew to love them. Basically, they are a soothing chapstick, with color. I love that my lips are being moisturized and look nice. Plus, they have a minty feel to them, and I love mint!!! A lot.

Of course, you probably know that Burt's Bees is 100% natural and all that jazz. You can pick them up at your drug store or buy them on line. Here are swatches of the colors I have.
Top: Caramel
Bottom: Fig

I found that a base of "Caramel" and then just a light dab of the "Fig" produces the best color for me. Since I never wear lipstick, I needed a more subtle color that was still noticable and this works awesome! And it is subtle enough not to be noticable on the lips of my FH. Everybody wins!!

Cost:
  • BB Lip Shimmers, 2 ct: Free* (Thanks Mom!)

*$5.00 online but maybe cheaper in your drugstore.

Budget Finds

Hello Everyone!

I thought I'd do a post on a few of the things I've found for a really good deal.

To finish off the last of the Christmas items I got for half price, I start with these decorative branches. They are glittery and 'swirly' and I really love them. There are two in each bunch and I bought 3 bunches. Doesn't that sound like a third grade math problem?? "How many branches did she have, class??" "SIX!!!" lol

Then from the Dollar Tree, I bought a few glass vases. The first is a relatively small dish and I think they will be used for the dessert spread. Perhaps as candy holders.

I purchased three of these.

I also bought two more traditional vases. These will probably also be used on the around the desserts but most likely to house the sparkly branches.
Cost:
  • Branches, 6 ct: $6.00
  • Small dish, 3 ct: $3.00
  • Vase, 2 ct: $2.00

The Dollar Tree can be a gamble, but there have been quite a few times when I have found amazing things for super cheap! Happy Shopping!

I'm Back.

Wow! I have managed to neglect this project for three months!!! That's not good. Luckily, nothing much has happened.

I have bought a few new things and have come up with a few new ideas and I'll be sharing those soon! They include:
  • a new use for Christmas ornaments
  • a DIY bouquet with silk flowers (tutorial)
  • and an updated budget

Remember the goal is still to have an amazing wedding for under $5000.00!!! Stick around!
