Check In + Update = Check Up?

Hello October! Where has the time gone? My lack of updates has definitely not been from a lack of content but from an increase of craziness in our schedules! What with events, school, homework, and regular work, Josh and I are always on the move. Sadly, I just haven't had the time or energy I need to get this blog moving.

So, here's an update, and to make it less boring, I decided to unload some of my recent iPhone pictures for fun.

Graduation looms just 7 months in the distance, so it's easy to understand that school is hard. Lots of projects and coursework keep me busy these day. Whenever possible, I like to sleep. Sometimes, Scribble (our pet rat who is actually quite adorable) joins me.

Date nights are few and far between, but recently Josh and I did squeeze in a lame-o date about a week ago where we trolled the mall, Barnes & Noble, and got some frozen yogurt. Of course, we made sure to swing by our local Spencer's to laugh at stupid gifts and trashy Halloween costumes. Check out this cowboy hat made from beer can boxes. One word: classy.

And here is Josh to model it for us.

But, we have still squeezed in time to plan for another Halloween party this month (check out last year's here.) We're definitely experimenting with a different theme this year. In the past, I've never dressed up as anything creepy so I'm getting my zombie gear ready for this party. But not, creepy zombie, cute zombie. Is there such a thing? Stay tuned. But on another note, there are a lot of adorable Halloween decorations out this year! Check out these adorable stair mice I found at Michael's. Perhaps, a future DIY project?

And lastly, being surrounded by people at all hours of the day has landed me a fun sickness. For the past few days, I've been stranded on the couch. And while, yes, that is usually considered rest, but being sick is really draining. So, while I haven't been producing blog content, I have been reading a lot. I just love the blog-0-sphere! So many amazing people and wonderful ideas.

One of my favorite discoveries this month has been Design Seeds. There you'll find all of the most amazing color palettes you can imagine! Based on beautiful, original photography, these color palettes would make it so much easier to plan a room on! Just pick your favorite, take it to the local paint star, and let the fun begin! Check out one of my favorites below:

There! We're all caught up! Now, let the real blogging continue. I've got some really cool posts coming up like a fun chair makeover, some super easy Halloween projects, and the long awaited kitchen makeover!

Welcome to October.

Where did September go? I cannot believe that October is here. Upon waking up this morning, the weather is gorgeous, the morning DJ's are talking about all of the scary movies coming out this month, and I already set out our cute little ceramic pumpkin on our bar. It's officially my favorite season! And to kick it off, how about some costume contenders for this year's festivities?

Pin-Up Sailor Girl

OR

Greek Goddess

Those are the top two choices now. I already have the blue dress and I have the material to make a Greek costume. So, it's just up to which one I lean towards more. I just don't know!!!

Thoughts? What are you planning to be for Halloween??

Feeling Accomplished

We bought a new car today. It was quite the process and I couldn't be happier that it's over. Car problems occurring simultaneously with a wedding/honeymoon are not fun (not that car trouble is ever fun).

We ended up buying a 2006 Mazda Tribute and it is in really great shape. The best part? We got to pay for it in cash. No payments! It was a really great feeling.

It was a really good experience for me and Josh to go through. Buying a car is a really hard thing to do so we were really lucky to have our parents and family around to give us advice (a lot of advice). Together, Josh and I had to negotiate, go through our finances, and really figure out what we could go for.

I think we did pretty well for ourselves. Wedding stuff coming up soon!

Short Update and More to Come

Well, the wedding is done and we're back from our honeymoon. At the moment, we're still in our home town until we get the car situation figured out and get back to our actual home. I'll keep you updated but for now enjoy a preview of the honeymoon pictures we took in Mexico. Below is the view from our hotel room. It was gorgeous! More to come.

Wedding Nightmares

I guess when something occupies your mind as much as a wedding can, some thoughts can carry over to your subconcious. I have had some of the most weird wedding dreams where I freak out about something so bizarre that I can only shake my head upon waking up.

Most recently, my dreams included forgetting my veil and having to settle for something made out of leaves, my bouquet constantly falling apart, and everyone doing some sort of choreographed dance while I was walking down the aisle (don't even ask).

Once you wake up and realize it was not real, you can laugh about it, but I can't help feel a twinge of dread everytime I have one of those nightmares.

Have you ever had a nightmare about a big event? About your wedding? I'd love to hear it.

Boys v. Girls

Yesterday, I was sitting in the office of which I work in and all of the girls in the office were working diligently chatting about the differences between guys and girls in relationships and what they want out of it. Some very interesting points came up.

For the guys, this had solved it all: "Dude, all chicks want is commitment. Babies, marriage, and the death of our masculinity" *high five (or rather, fist bump now)

Ladies, it was more like this: "Gee, I just can't get him to say I love you. He never shares his feeeelings." *sigh*

But from the discussion I had yesterday, I found that girls and guys take part of both stereotypes. My best friend Sarah and I are engaged and my boss, Chelsea, is newly married. From our side, we agreed that we liked/had guys who showed emotion and we didn't have any second thoughts about our choice in when we're getting married.

From the other side, Elia, Kelsey, & Cheney (Chelsea's sister who was not a direct participant) are not interested in dating or being in a relationship at all. In fact, the guys they had dated recently were the clingy ones and it made them uncomfortable.

I just thought this was interesting because these gender stereotypes do not work. Every person is different and it just depends on what point they are at in their life for when they are ready for a relationship. Just food for thought.
